Request to obtain a corporate trustee licence

Checklist

In accordance with Sections 18 to 26 (inclusive) of Directive No. 13R3, Licensing Directive, a request to obtain a corporate trustee licence should entail a written request for pre-approval of the name submitted to the Licensing Section of the OSB.


  1. Pre-approval of new corporate trustee name
    1. Current name of corporate trustee licence(s):

      2. a name derived from the name of an accounting firm;

  2. Once the name has been pre-approved
    1. Fill in Form 3;
    2. Make sure that Articles of Incorporation include the objects of the Corporation (S. 21 of the Licensing Directive) and state how the corporation is a private or close company (S. 23 of the Licensing Directive);
    3. Make sure that the by-laws and the shareholders register do comply with provisions of the Licensing Directive dealing with Directors and Officers (S. 22) and those dealing with shareholders (S. 24 and 25).

  3. If the trustee leaves an established firm
    1. Estate Conciliation – please choose the situation which applies to you:
      1. Transferring files to another trustee within the firm (name of the trustee);
      2. Trustee keeping files (substitution).
